Dr. Smith earned his medical degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. He completed his residency at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire. He subsequently completed a fellowship in hematology at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and a fellowship in medical oncology at the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Smith is NCS’s Medical Director of Research and is the associate chair of a national Lung Cancer Clinical Research Committee. He has three children, and his hobbies include biking, sailing, hiking, and music. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. His family lives in the Northwest and he has lived in Vancouver for six years.
