Two people, wanted for Wednesday’s robbery of ‘Guaranty
Bank,’ were arrested in Van Zandt County on Thursday, September 25, 2003.
Acting on a tip Chandler Police arrested 28 year old Davis Shane Bice
early in the afternoon. He is currently being held in Henderson County.
The female in the robbery, 31 year old Johanna Lynn Bice, was arrested
at a motel in Canton after a tip came in to local police that she had been seen
there. She remains in the Van Zandt County Jail.
On Wednesday, September 24, 2003, a white female entered
the bank, on S. Broadway, and demanded cash. She fled on foot, across
the street and between two houses, where a witness saw the suspect get into
a red, 1980s model Ford pick-up. Tips identifying possible suspects led
Tyler investigators to suspect Johanna Bice and a photo line-up was conducted.
The results of the line-up allowed the investigators to seek a warrant for the
Bices, issued by Judge Carole Clark.
Bond has been set at $50,000 for each suspect.

Tyler, Texas, Sept. 26 - The Guaranty Bank branch on Broadway in Tyler was robbed on Wednesday
New information from police suggest a husband and wife to be the prime suspects. Now they are both behind bars. Twenty-nine year old Davis Shane Bice of Chandler was booked into the Henderson county jail yesterday afternoon. He's believed to have some connection to the robbery. His wife, thirty-one year old Johanna Lynn Bice was still at large until yesterday evening. She was arrested at a Canton hotel after police recieved a tip that she was walking around the parking lot drunk bragging about the robbery. She is the woman seen on surveillance video wearing a straw hat. Johanna Bice has been taken to the Canton city jail where she will wait to be transported to Van Zandt county jail.

Editor's note: Mrs. Bice gave a false address of Wyoming when she was first arrested. The Judge may not be very happy to find out that her correct address is Chandler, Texas. I would venture to say that after Ms. Bice gets out of jail in Texas, she will get a free ride to Lamar, Colorado. The bail bondsman will be looking for his $10,000 from Mrs. Bice, and likely won't be inclined to make further loans.
Johanna Lynn Bice, 31, of Wyoming, appeared before Judge Douglas Tallman Monday for a hearing in connection with charges of possession of methamphetamine and driving under the influence of drugs. The charges allege a June 12 incident in the 1200 block of South Main Street in Lamar.
In an August 4 hearing, Bice disclosed a tentative plea agreement which called for her to plead guilty to the possession charge, and she was scheduled to appear for a hearing October 6, but did not appear because she had been jailed in Texas. Judge Tallman ordered Bice's previous $11,000 personal recognizance bond to be forfeited, issued an arrest warrant and set new bond at $15,000
In Monday's action, Bice's attorney advised the court that Bice remains in custody in Texas, which exonerates bond forfeiture, but requires her to pay her own cost of transportation to Colorado upon the conclusion of the Texas case.
Bice was represented by Lamar attorney Karen Verhoeff; the people by Assistant District Attorney Don Steerman.
